Class of 2029

Caleb Peters, DO

Hometown: Noble, OK

Hobbies: Spending time with family, welding, grilling/smoking, being on the lake, hunting/fishing, riding things with 2 wheels

Advice for medical students: Be yourself and you will find your way and your people. Don’t compare yourself to others. Your journey is what makes you unique. Everyone brings a different story, attitude, and perspective. Life is hard enough, try to find the positives in every situation and don’t dwell on the negatives.

Nick Boyne, DO

Hometown: Sapulpa, OK

Hobbies: lifting weights, watching the Packers, playing with my daughter

Advice for medical students: Attitude is everything! Always have a good attitude and be willing to learn.

Steven Fruit, DO

Hometown: Mustang, Ok.

Hobbies: Hiking, fishing, rock climbing, golf, video games, chasing around my 2 year old.

Advice for medical students: Hustle. Always be finding something to do or some way to help out. You’re not expected to know everything right now. We can teach anyone emergency medicine, but we can’t teach hustle and work ethic.

Hunter Moody, DO

Hometown: Norman, Ok

Hobbies: Golf, fishing, hunting, and going to the gym.

Advice to medical students: Take more time to do the things you enjoy. Medical school already takes up so much of your time, working your hobbies into your schedule will help so much in the long run.

Makenzie Bender, DO

Hometown: Flower Mound, TX

Hobbies: traveling, reading, baking, hanging out with my doggos

Advice for medical students: hustle to see patients, ask questions, & ask to do procedures

Trent Vongchanyakul, DO

Hometown: Norman, Oklahoma

Hobbies: hunting, fishing, spending time with my wife and children

Advice to medical students: “Be curious, not just compliant.” As a medical student, it’s easy to focus on doing what you’re told — pre-round, write notes, present, repeat. But the best students ask why at every step.

Michael Smith, DO

Hometown: Alpine, Utah.

Hobbies: Lifting, biking, woodworking, and spending time with my kids.

Advice for medical students: EM Basic podcast was my absolute favorite resource.

Cooper Hamilton, DO
